The Global Directorate Institute exists to prepare leaders for this responsibility. As Executive Director, my commitment is to ensure that this purpose informs our work. Learning at GDI should equip leaders to ask difficult questions, examine assumptions, exercise effective oversight and make decisions they can explain and defend. It should also encourage the humility to listen, the courage to uphold standards and the foresight to prepare institutions for change.

For us, stewardship has a practical meaning: protecting public trust, using resources responsibly, developing people and leaving institutions stronger for those who follow. These responsibilities connect directors and institutional leaders across sectors, even where their mandates and circumstances differ.
